2017 Show "Vibrations"
This show was a collection of 3 or 4 years work that was commentary on stereotypes that we see every day and perpetuate in our society.
The way men and women in different time periods are depicted is very interesting to me. As I have studied art history I have found many characters that have been remembered in various ways. Most of these characters are female: women idealized, sexualized, distorted, restrained, or condemned. This show attempts to identify and play with these stereotypes in a way that reveals truths about the time period in which they are set. The order of the pieces is chronological, beginning with contemporary and ending with the medieval period. The show identifies five female stereotypes and one male stereotype. My goal is not to denounce or praise any character that I present but merely provide another perspective.
